The human endeavor is a continuum stretching back to our earliest ancestry. Handcraft connects us to our human heritage and produces art with meaning.

Auda Sinda is an artisan design studio based in the Pacific Northwest that creates high touch, handwoven textiles and rugs. We believe in both a commitment to traditional methods and continuing experimentation. Our designs benefit from the expertise developed by the hands-on experience of our team of artisans. We are inspired by the resilience and inventiveness in nature and take pride in producing new classics.

We specialize in working closely with designers and homeowners to develop palettes and patterns that integrate effortlessly and beautifully into interior design schemes.

Nestled in the picturesque town of Bellingham, Washington, Auda Sinda employs local artisans to meticulously handweave each carpet. Working on traditional American made looms, we weave each rug entirely from carefully sourced, domestic materials. By eliminating the delays of international delivery and the possibility of unreliable materials, we are able to produce gorgeous, bespoke rugs made in the United States.

About Our Founder

Originally an abstract painter, Amy is connected to passion and inspiration by the unexpected complexity of how objects are made.

She experimented with metalsmithing and ceramics before finding weaving. Inspired by the marriage of modern design and handcraft, she went back to school to study textile design at FIT in New York. After many years as working as a rug designer to companies such as Tufenkian and Stark Carpets, Amy decided to return to the pacific northwest.

A chance encounter with a retiring weaver gave Amy the chance to purchase several rug looms. In 2014, Amy launched the business to create American handwoven rugs.

Amy likes a design process that engages directly with materials on the loom. Weaving and unweaving to discover the most perfect combinations.  Textiles are mysterious because you never know for sure how it will look until you weave it together. Weaving is synergetic process.

Amy has assembled a staff of crafters and textile lovers. Together they explore new possibilities and solve technical challenges arising from the ideas and desires of Interior Designers and Homeowners. Amy celebrates textiles crafts by leading others on a creative journey.

In an increasingly digital and theoretical world, Amy wants to promote handcraft as a way of engaging with the physical world and grounding in reality. Being out in nature recharges us and feeds our souls. Harmony and that we find in nature inspires the harmony we create in our interior living spaces and is essential for a healthy, good life.

Amy and the staff at Auda Sinda create textiles that bring us warmth and comfort.
